Real Reviews

How To Teach Tagalog to English-speaking Kids is a comforting answer to parents of third culture kids like me. It doesn’t judge parents for not being able to instill Tagalog from the beginning to their kids, but it understands the struggles parents face without discrimination or assumptions. The book opened my eyes on being intentional, consistent, and most importantly loving in the way the Filipino language should be taught. I look forward to practice it with ny daughter. Thank you, Joei for writing this book! It’s an answered prayer!❤️

This book has been an encouragement and a needed gentle push to continue exposing and teaching our children the Filipino language because it does matter… and it is still not too late. Prior to reading this book, I thought our eldest, who was born overseas, has missed his chance to still learn his parents’ native language but as Joei has shared, if I know what kind of a learner and which level my child is at, there are appropriate strategies and tools to make learning our language as natural and experiential as possible. This book shares in a simple, clear, informative and sequential manner how parents, or adults, can support their children’s acquisition of the Filipino language. In doing so, our children do not only gain another language, but has created a connection to their identity and their roots. Grateful that our generation has this tool to support and guide us in this language journey!

As a homeschooler, I know first hand the challenges of teaching Filipino language. That's why I'm grateful for Joei's unwavering passion and dedication to this subject. I lost count on how many times I consulted Joei. Her new book is a testament to her expertise and her desire to empower Filipino homeschooling families like mine. I am convinced that her book will be a valuable resource for anyone looking to teach Filipino language with confidence and joy. May God bless your generous heart Joei!

As a homeschooler mom who has no background in education, it was very challenging for me to teach Filipino even if it is my first language, I do not know where and how to start. Joei's book made it easy for me to do it and helped me understand the "why" and the importance of teaching our kids our language. The book has clearly outlined the how-to steps with samples and suggestions. It is with great joy that I recommend this book to all who wish to teach, cultivate, and preserve our Mother Tongue.
